WHAT IS STILL STANDING
Well… today was a reminder that life can change in a matter of seconds.
Today, I experienced something I never expected. My car caught on fire, and for a moment, I was in real danger. And when something like that happens, it has a way of putting everything into perspective. The things we worry about, the things we stress over, the things we chase, the things we think we cannot live without suddenly become very small when you realize that your life could have ended in that moment.
But God spared me. And for that, I am grateful.
Today reminded me that sometimes we get so caught up in what we have lost, what we don't have, what isn't working out, or what we are still trying to hold together that we forget to appreciate what is still standing. We wake up every morning thinking we have another day guaranteed, but we don't. Life is a blessing. Being able to breathe, to wake up, to love, to laugh, to dream, to start over — those are the things that matter.
And maybe there is another lesson in what happened today that I am choosing to receive.
That car represented a part of my past. It still carried ties to things, memories, experiences, and chapters that I have been trying to move beyond. I have been going through my own transformation, and transformation isn't always just about becoming something new. Sometimes it requires us to finally release what belongs to the old version of ourselves.
It's dealing with the residuals it left behind
We talk about letting go, but sometimes we don't realize how much of our past we continue to carry with us. We hold onto old relationships, old pain, old habits, old environments, old memories, and even old versions of ourselves because they are familiar. We say we want a new chapter, but we keep bringing pieces of the old chapter with us.
And sometimes the hardest part of transformation isn't leaving the past behind. It's dealing with the residuals it left behind.
Today, I am choosing to look at what happened differently. I am not saying that God caused my car to catch fire. But I am choosing to find meaning in what happened. That car was connected to a part of my past that I have been working to release. So rather than only seeing what I lost, I am choosing to see what may finally be finished.
Maybe this was a reminder that some things are not meant to come with me into my next chapter.
There are moments in life when we have to stop asking, "Why did this happen to me?" and start asking, "What can I learn from this?" What is this moment teaching me? What is it asking me to release? What am I still holding onto that is keeping me from becoming who I am supposed to be?
Today, I lost a material possession. But I gained perspective.
And I will take being alive over a car any day.
Material things can be replaced. Cars can be replaced. Money can be replaced. Jobs can be replaced. Houses can be replaced. Things can be rebuilt. But life cannot be replaced.

So tonight, I am choosing gratitude.
Grateful that I am still here. Grateful that I still have another day. Grateful that I have another opportunity to grow, to heal, to change, to love, to laugh, and to become the woman I am meant to be.
Maybe happiness isn't about having everything we want. Maybe happiness is realizing how much we already have.
Sometimes we don't need another possession. We need another perspective.
Sometimes we don't need to hold on tighter. We need to let go.
And sometimes the ending of something isn't a punishment. It's permission to begin again, because we all deserve and owe it to ourselves. To give ourselves that freedom to start over.
So as we reach the middle of this week, take a moment to look around you. Look at your life. Look at the people you love. Look at the breath in your lungs. Look at the opportunities still in front of you.
Be grateful for what remains.
Release what no longer belongs.
Deal with the pieces of your past that are still following you.
And when you are finally ready, walk into your next chapter without dragging the old one behind you.
Because today reminded me of something I never want to forget:
I don't need everything to be perfect to be happy. I just need to be grateful that I am still here.
And as long as God continues to give me breath, I have another chance to begin again.
That's something worth celebrating. Remember… The sun is STILL shinning, even when we cant fully see it.
