A New Beginning

Well... here we are, right in the middle of another week. And today, I want us to pause for a moment—not just to get through the rest of the week, but to really think about where we are in our lives and where we are going.

Today, we experienced a solar eclipse, and as I watched this incredible event unfold, I couldn't help but think about how symbolic it can be for where we are in our own lives. An eclipse temporarily covers the light of the Sun, creating a moment of darkness, but that darkness doesn't last. The light is still there. It hasn't disappeared. It's simply being covered for a moment.

And isn't that sometimes what happens to us?

There are seasons in our lives when our own light feels covered. We lose ourselves in relationships, responsibilities, expectations, disappointments, fear, past experiences, and the opinions of other people. We become so focused on surviving, pleasing everyone else, or trying to be who people expect us to be that we forget who we are underneath it all.

But maybe this eclipse can serve as a reminder that it's never too late for a new beginning.

A new beginning doesn't necessarily mean changing everything about your life overnight. Sometimes it simply means making a decision within yourself that you are no longer going to continue living the same way. It means recognizing that a chapter has ended and giving yourself permission to turn the page.

And turning the page doesn't mean that the past didn't matter. It means you have decided that the past doesn't get to control what happens next.

So take some time this week and really look at yourself. Ask yourself: What is stealing my light? What people, situations, habits, fears, or thoughts are constantly draining me? What keeps pulling me backward when everything inside of me is telling me that it's time to move forward?

What is keeping you stuck and anchored to something that you've already outgrown?

Sometimes we hold onto things simply because they're familiar. Even when something isn't good for us anymore, we convince ourselves that it's safer to stay where we are than to step into something unknown. We become comfortable with being uncomfortable.

But you were not created simply to exist in the same place forever.

You are allowed to change

You are allowed to outgrow people. You are allowed to change your environment, your habits, your mindset, your goals, and even your definition of happiness. You are allowed to become someone your younger self never imagined you could be.

And sometimes, starting over isn't failure.

Sometimes starting over is the greatest act of courage.

I want you to think about the person you are today versus the person you were five years ago. What have you learned? What have you survived? What have you overcome? And perhaps most importantly, what parts of that old version of yourself are you still carrying that no longer belong in your next chapter?

We spend so much time trying to figure out what everyone else wants from us that we sometimes forget to ask ourselves what we actually want.

What makes you happy?

What gives you energy?

What are you passionate about?

What have you always wanted to do but kept putting off because you were afraid?

What would your life look like if you stopped worrying about what everyone else thought and started listening to your own heart?

Your purpose may not look like somebody else's purpose. Your journey may not look like theirs either. And that's okay. You don't have to explain your path to people who aren't walking it with you.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is quietly decide, "I'm ready for something different."

Then take the first step.

You don't have to have the entire plan figured out. You don't have to know exactly where you're going. Sometimes you just have to be willing to move in a different direction.

Maybe this is your season to let go.

Maybe it's your season to heal.

Maybe it's your season to rediscover yourself.

Maybe it's your season to stop allowing fear to make your decisions for you.

Maybe it's your season to finally step into the purpose you've been putting off.

Whatever it is, don't be afraid to let your light shine.

The world doesn't need another version of someone else. It needs you—your gifts, your voice, your ideas, your experiences, your creativity, and everything that makes you uniquely you.

So this week, I want you to ask yourself some honest questions:

What am I ready to release? What is keeping me stuck? What is stealing my light? What part of myself have I been afraid to embrace? And what would happen if I finally gave myself permission to live the life I'm meant to live?

You don't have to wait for January 1st. You don't have to wait for Monday. You don't have to wait until everything is perfect.

You can begin again today.

Take the lessons from your past.

Take the wisdom.

Take the strength.

But you don't have to carry all of the pain, fear, disappointment, or limitations into your next chapter.

The darkness doesn't get the final word.

Your light is still there.

Maybe it's time to stop looking outside of yourself for someone to give you permission to shine.

Maybe it's time to realize that you've had the light inside of you all along.

Here's to new beginnings. Here's to letting go of what no longer serves us. Here's to getting to know ourselves again. Here's to choosing ourselves, discovering our purpose, and finally allowing ourselves to live instead of simply survive.

And most importantly, here's to remembering that your past may be part of your story, but it doesn't have to be the author of your future.

Have an amazing rest of your week, and don't be afraid to turn the page.
